Over 30 new homes planned for south Kildare

The scheme would provide a mix of houses and apartments
A €6.1 million residential development featuring 32 homes has been proposed for Geraldine Road in Athy, Co Kildare.
The scheme would provide a mix of houses and apartments, including 14 two-storey semi-detached three-bedroom houses and 18 apartments across three two-storey blocks.
The apartments would comprise six one-bedroom units and 12 two-bedroom units, providing a range of accommodation types as part of the proposed development.
Plans also include the creation of a new vehicular and pedestrian entrance from Geraldine Road, together with a foul pumping station to serve the development.
A total of 39 car parking spaces would be provided, along with 53 bicycle parking spaces.
The development would include public and communal open spaces, landscaping and new boundary treatments, as well as footpaths, internal roads and public lighting.
Bin storage facilities would also be provided, while the wider site works would include foul and surface water drainage and all associated infrastructure.
The application has been submitted by Bluehume Ltd, with John Spain Associates acting as planning agent and Meitheal Architects appointed as architects.
A range of engineering and environmental consultants are also involved in the proposal, including specialists in trees, ecology, landscape design and drainage.
The proposed development represents a significant addition of new housing in Athy, with the 32 units including 14 family-sized three-bedroom houses and 18 apartments.
The application will now be considered by Kildare County Council as part of the planning process.
