Kildare Post Review
33 South Main in Naas is an exciting new venue with a very extensive menu for drinks and food.
The Gastropub and Eatery, which has a free car park at the rear, has witnessed a complete renovation in recent months to give it a funky and classy urban feel.
The décor is modern and welcoming and the comfortable seating make you very relaxed.
The atmospheric Open Kitchen at the rear offers a glimpse into the busy world of the award-winning chef and the team preparing the meals.
During the week, great value for money can be had from the Early Bird Menu from Monday to Thursday from 4pm to 9pm which offers 2 Courses for €18 or 3 Courses for €22.
There are lots of weekday specials on food and drinks which cater for everybody.
For example, customers can book an Express Lunch in advance and their meal will be waiting for them when they arrive.
There is Live Music every Thursday to Saturday and all sports are shown on Big Screens.
Party Packages and Finger Food options are available for groups.
33 South Main is gearing up for the Punchestown Racing Festival and will be serving food until 12 midnight on each day of racing to keep new and regular customers happy.
There will be live entertainment available and lots of attractive specials on drinks and food.
For the Starter, I chose the Grilled Chicken Skewers served with homemade Satay Sauce and Asian salad.
My companion selected an unusual Menu item - Potato Skins with Black Pudding and Pickled Red Onion.
This comprised golden fried potato skins served with Clonakilty Black Pudding, pickled red onion, bacon and garlic yoghurt topped with melted Dubliner Cheese.
Also very popular on the Starter Menu is the house special - South Main Chicken Wings - which are quite large and come with Louisiana Hot Sauce or Sticky BBQ Sauce with a Blue Cheese Dip.
For the Main Course I ordered Braised Beef Short Rib.
This dish was slow-cooked beef short rib served with carrot puree, braised red cabbage, lentils and jus served with baby potatoes and seasonal vegetables. My companion opted for the Chicken Supreme - corn-fed chicken with mushroom and chickpea ragu.
This dish was very attractively presented and looked almost too good to eat! Kudos to the chef.
And the waiting staff led by Mick were extremely efficient and had a natural warmth and friendliness.
With our appetites almost satisfied, we decided to share the Creme Brulée served with home-baked Shortbread biscuits.
Other Dessert options which caught our eye were the Pear & Almond Tart and Homemade Sorbet (Mango/Lemon).
