Grace Clifford will spearhead the Kildare Ladies for the year ahead after she was announced as the team captain.

The Eadestown star replaces Roisin Byrne as the leader of the team after she performed the role in a mixed year in 2018.

Clifford has come a long way over the last few seasons after recovering from a career threatening cruciate ligament injury during the All-Ireland Intermediate winning campaign three years ago.

Suncrofts's Trina Duggan comes in as her understudy in the vice captain role.

Both players landed the jobs after stirring campaigns with their clubs during the last term as they landed the Senior and Intermediate County Titles respectively.

Kildare are busy preparing for Division 3 of the National Football League which will commence with a home game against Longford on the 3rd of February.

Team Manager Daniel Moynihan is in his second year at the helm and he will look to build on a semi-final defeat at the hands of eventual League winners Wexford last year.
