Skeletal Ocras steals the show: starved greyhound makes full recovery

Starved and appallingly weak, this greyhound was aptly named 'Ocras' by the KWWSPCA after he was wandered into a farm yard near Athy in February last. Clearly starved, Ocras was dangerously dehydrated with bad sores on his legs and body. "The kind family who found him gave him food and water and took him straight to Vetcare in Athy" said Sally McCaffrey of the KWWSPCA, an animal shelter based in Athgarvan, Co Kildare "Named 'Ocras' which means hungry in Irish, he was later placed into the care of one of our foster-carers, Josephine Walsh. Josephine and her family brought him back to full health and duly fell in love with, so they have now adopted him - and look how he is thriving." Volunteers were delighted to see Ocras attend a recent Dog Show at Punchestown, albeit he was barely recorgnisable  from the skeletal frame they first met in February.
