Heritage Week 2015— Kildare Town Medieval Festival, August 23.
7 Sept 2015
From medieval enactments to straw making crafts, harp recitals and ‘Go Batty’ walks, Co Kildare hosted almost 120 events during Heritage Week 2015. History talks and battle re-enactments, open air concerts and music recitals plus outdoor walks across Kildare’s rich bogs and woodlands drew large attendances. Brigid McLoughlin, Heritage Officer at Kildare County Council said KCC was delighted with the success of the week and the enthusiasm for Heritage from all the events, event- organisers and the public. “KCC would like to say a sincere thank you and well done to all the organisers and visitors who took part in Co Kildare’s Heritage Week 2015. With over 120 events and nearly 10,000 visitors, this year’s event was our biggest and best heritage week yet. Over 92 organisations, groups and individuals spent many weeks, even months of hard work preparing for the events from 22nd to 30th August”. This year’s theme was ‘Ireland’s Industrial and Design Heritage’ and this was represented in many of the memorabilia displays and walking tours of former businesses and industrial workplaces.
