Monasterevin crash: Girl (7) now in ICU in Crumlin Hospital

A seven-old girl seriously injured in a crash near Monasterevin yesterday has now been transferred to the Intensive Care Unit of Our Lady's Hospital in Crumlin. Six people, including an toddler were hurt following the collision involving another car which was being pursued by Gardai. A man in his 20s remains in a serious condition at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin. The incident happened at around 12pm yesterday at Ballagh, Portarlington road, Monasterevin, Co. Kildare. It is understood Gardai were in pursuit of a vehicle from a distance when that car collided with another vehicle in which a family were travelling in. A helicopter and a number of ambulances from Athy, Portlaoise and Tullamore attended the scene and were assisted by local gardai and units of the fire brigade from Monasterevin and Portarlington. Three people in the other car, an adult male, a two-year old boy and a seven-year old girl were all injured and were also taken to Tullamore Hospital. However it's understood that that the seven year old has was transferred last night to the intensive care unit of the Cumlin’s Childrens Hospital in Dublin. Three occupants of one of the cars who were injured were all males in their teens or early 20′s. One of them was taken to Tullamore General Hospital, while another was taken to Tallaght hospital with serious injuries and a third, who was also taken to Tallaght Hospital with serous head injuries has since being transferred to Beaumont Hospital. Kildare Gardai have closed the road and are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 045-527730. An investigation team from the Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) are filing a report on the incident.
