Mrs Doyle aka Pauline McGlynn makes KildareNow appeal: another mercy mission for 2,500 hens - can you prevent fowl play for these hens?

Pauline McGlynn, actress and comedienne well known for her performance as Mrs Doyle in the popular Fr Ted series, makes a passionate appeal to KildareNow viewers to save 2,500 healthy, good laying hens from extermination. Miss McGlynn is patron of Littlehills Animal Rescure Sanctuary which has just learnt of another batch of factory laying hens going to the slaughter-house on October 10th. The actress, most noted for her tea-making antics in the TV series now urges Kildare residents "Ah go on, go... please log onto Littlehills appeal on Facebook and share the notice, or contact Susan Anderson at 087 204 7911 if you can support this next rescue mission". The acrtress based in the UK also introduced novelty knitted tank tops for rescued chucks to help fund Littlehills work. "If people could post locations, ie county or town, and number of hens you can save, with contact details, on Littlehills FB page, this would be a great help to give us an idea of areas and numbers, as time is running out" she added. Susan Anderson, proprietor of Littlhills Animal Rescue & Sanctuary is concerned the short time period is against them but as always, is appealing to Kildare residents to come to the rescue. Speaking to KildareNow, Miss Anderson said: "The sad thing is we do have the homes out there, but only two Saturdays and one Sunday to collect and transport them all, I'm struggling to organise transportation and collection". Miss Anderson added she does not want this run to compromise the centre's annual hen rescue in February next year when 7,000 hens are rescued and transported across Ireland. "However, how do you say 'No, I'm not interested', let them all be dragged out, thrown into a truck, injured and traumatised beyond belief and slaughtered at barely one year and a half old, when there are possible homes out there now?" Miss Anderson added that along with dedicated supporters, Michael, Bryony, Sinead and Brian, Coralie and Emma on board, they are already out making deliveries to residents in Co Kildare. "There were over 5,000 caring people on the March in Dublin on Sunday, can any KildareNow viewers help us save these hens physically? Can you foster, provide a horsebox, offer to drive and transport? These hens' lives are depending on it, literally!"
