Site for Celbridge's Educate Together school at risk of flooding
7 Oct 2015
The site for a new Educate Together secondary school in Celbridge is at serious risk of flooding. Following meetings between Kildare County Council officials and the Department of Education, it has been decided that the issue of flooding at the proposed Hazelhatch site needs to be examined.
Speaking to Kildare Now, Labour Deputy Emmett Stagg, stated that the Council have now proposed that the brief of the Departments Consultants RPS be extended to encompass a broader assessment of flooding at the site. Deputy Stagg revealed that the cost of the works will be a matter for discussion between the Council and the Department in due course. The Council also indicated that they would be agreeable to seek planning permission (Part 8) for works identified to resolve the flooding issue and to secure a contractor to carry out the required works.
