Historic day for Naas as statue of 'the Greatest of Fenians' is unveiled

U.S Ambassador to Ireland Kevin F. O'Malley was among those in attendance at Poplar Square in Naas this afternoon as people gathered to honour the memory of 'the Greatest of the Fenians'. A statue in memory of republican John Devoy was officially unveiled in the town at 2pm as part of the preparations for the 100th anniversary of the 1916 rising. A large crowd gathered in the square to welcome the members of the New York John Devoy Memorial Committee and the US Ambassador.
