Able to correctly fit your child seat in your car? Are you sure? Let the experts help...

Experts from the Road Safety Authority (RSA) are coming to Co Kildare to help motorists correctly fit child seats. The Check It Fits roadshow will be in Clane, Newbridge, Sallins, Celbridge, Leixlip and Maynooth between November 21 and December 3. The ‘Check it Fits’ service will have child car seat installation experts available to ensure car seats and restraints are correctly fitted. The service takes between 10-15 minutes, is free of charge and offers parents and guardians reassurance that their child is safe while travelling in the car.
The RSA revealed that just over half of the child car seats checked in the county were incorrectly fitted. On the service’s most recent visit in March 2015, 248 seats were checked. Worryingly, 58% of these seats required a major adjustment, and 2% were deemed not fit for purpose, meaning they have the potential to cause injury or even death to the child or other car occupants in the event of a collision.
