The widow of legendary sports presenter Bill O’Herlihy was robbed as she visited his grave in a Dublin cemetery. Hilary O’Herlihy was attending the grave in Shanganagh Cemetery in south Dublin when her car was targeted in the car park and €250 was taken from her purse. Her daughter Jill O’Herlihy took to Twitter last night to vent her anger at what had happened. Shock “€250 cash was stolen from my mums purse in her car whilst visiting Dads grave. I’m livid that she has to go through this,” she said. Ms O’Herlihy’s tweet was quickly responded to by her followers, with people expressing shock and anger.
Bill O’Herlihy died at home in May aged 76, less than a year after he retired from his role as the nation’s most distinguished and most recognised sports anchors. He was laid to rest in Shanganagh Cemetery in Shankill, not far from his Foxrock home.
