Kildare gardai probing new lead on murder in Prosperous

KILDARE garda are examining a new lead on the cold case murder of a bookie in Prosperous 25 years ago. Tragic Dessie Fox (47) was on his way to a race meeting in the Curragh on September 30, 1990 when his car was ambushed at Healy's Bridge near Prosperous village by an armed gang and he was fatally shot in his leg. Co Tyrone man is believed to have been carrying a large sum of cash in his car at the time. Nobody has ever been brought to justice for the crime. However RTE's CrimeCall programme featured the cold case murder last night and revealed that Kildare gardai were examining new information they received. She added: "We all loved him and miss him so much. Whatever information you may have, please come forward now.
