Kildare gardai probing new lead on murder in Prosperous

KILDARE garda are examining a new lead on the cold case murder of a bookie in Prosperous 25 years ago. Tragic Dessie Fox (47) was on his way to a race meeting in the Curragh on September 30, 1990 when his car was ambushed at Healy's Bridge near Prosperous village by an armed gang and he was fatally shot in his leg. Co Tyrone man is believed to have been carrying a large sum of cash in his car at the time. Nobody has ever been brought to justice for the crime. However RTE's CrimeCall programme featured the cold case murder last night and revealed that Kildare gardai were examining new information they received. Presenters Grainne Seoige and Philip Boucher Hayes (above) spoke to investigating gardai in the studio about the case.[/caption] Mr Fox's daughter Lorna Fox O'Mahony made an emotional on her dad's murder in the past.
She said: “For us to deal with this we need to know the truth of what happened on that day. “We believe that there are people out there who know what happened to our dad the day he was killed." She added: "We all loved him and miss him so much. Whatever information you may have, please come forward now.
