Roof of house destroyed in fatal Naas house fire

This is the house where a man aged 52  died in a fire on the Dublin Road in Naas.
Gardai are investigating the blaze which occurred in Glenville Terrace at 2am this morning.
The roof of the bungalow partially hidden behind trees was completely gutted in the blaze. Only the chimney stack was visible today after the flames ripped through the ceiling and roof. The man, who was named locally as Michael Maher was found unconscious by emergency services and was taken to Naas General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Sources have told KildareNow that gardai don't believe the fire is suspicious. The fires is located directly opposite Fitzpatrick's Garage on the Dublin Road (below) and close to St Corban's Cemetery. Neighbours and passers who visited the scene during the morning said their thoughts and prayers were with the family and friends of the deceased man. glernville-terrace-general-areNEW A total of two Kildare Fire Service appliances from Naas and Newbridge responded to the incident and were fighting the blaze at the scene for more than two hours. A water tanker was also at the scene.
The initial emergency call was received by Kildare Fire Service at 1.48am. It's not known who raised the alarm.
Sources said that the fire was well advanced by the time the fire services and gardai arrived.
 The scene has now been handed over to the gardai who are investigation all circumstances surrounding the incident.
