As is always the case, the actual racing has been the second most important aspect of the first day of the Punchestown festival. The attention has largely been focused on the ladies and what they are wearing. The 'Best Dressed' competition always draws plenty of interest, and the title for the Best Dressed lady at day one of the festival has gone to Kirsty Farrell from Newry. The gorgeous brunette from Down looked stunning in her ice blue knee length dress with a short cape and wide brimmed matching hat with black lace. The dress was designed by Rosie's Closet in Newry. Model Holly Carpenter, Stylist Cathy O'Connor and racing lady representative Helen Mullins were on hand to judge the contestants this afternoon and Kirsty will now be entered into the grand final of the Bollinger Best Dressed Lady competition which picks out the most stylishly dressed lady at the festival between now and Friday. The Bollinger Best Dressed Lady 2016 plus a guest will enjoy return business class flights to France and a private chauffeur directly from the airport to the Champagne region, where there they will have a private tour of the Bollinger estate - a truly special experience as Bollinger is not normally open to the public.
There they will get to experience in person the long history and meticulous craft of this famous Champagne followed by a personal champagne tasting and lunch with the experts at Champagne Bollinger. Then after a luxurious overnight stay and gourmet meal in the nearby historic city of Reims, the Bollinger Best Dressed Lady and her guest will be chauffeured to Paris where they will enjoy a weekend of luxury accommodation and Michelin-starred dining. To round off the experience the Bollinger Best Dressed Lady will receive not only a year’s supply of Bollinger Special Cuvée, but also the limited edition 007 James Bond bottle of 2009 vintage Bollinger, an homage to the world’s
favourite connoisseur. Finalists each day will receive a luxury Bollinger Goody Bag with the daily winner enjoy a deluxe version!
