Weather: Downpours causing flash floods across Kildare

Heavy rain is persistent across Co Kildare and neighbouring counties. Motorists getting to work are reporting spot flooding on back roads due to overnight rainfall.
Rain covering Kildare and the east coast at 7am this morning
The AA warned that the biggest motoring dangers during floods is the possibility that you could create waves which may then flow back under your bonnet and flood your engine. The rain will clear during the morning and sunny spells will develop this afternoon. Temperatures will stay mild with 9 to 11 degrees.
