History made as contracts signed to convert Athy's Dominican Church into new library

Kildare County Council today signed contracts worth €2.5m with developers to transform the former Dominican Church in Athy into a state-of-the-art library. Construction work is expected to being on site in the very near future. "To convert a church into another use is always a challenging task, but this design is very good and very exciting," said Joe Boland, Director of Services. The project is funded by the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government and will see the church transformed into a modern space and integrated community facility.
