Firefighters use sand to put out car fire on beach

This was the scene at a Dublin beach when firefighters were called to a car fire. Officers from Skerries Fire Station responded to the emergency on Rush beach yesterday evening. The firemen used shovels rather than water hoses to extinguish the flames on the vehicle due to the difficulty in getting their fire engines to the scene. The shovelfuls of sand effectively smothered the fire at the scene.
