Applications are now being sought for men and women ranging in ages from 18 to 100, for the upcoming filming of Little Women in Co Wicklow.
The three-part series sees Angela Lansbury (Murder, She Wrote) and Michael Gambon (Victoria and Abdul) support Maya Hawke, Willa Fitzgerald, Annes Elwy and Kathryn Newton as the March sisters.
91-year-old Lansbury takes on the role of the cantankerous Aunt March, the wealthy relative of the girls.
This adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s novel is directed by Vanessa Caswill (Thirteen) based on a script from Heidi Thomas (Call the Midwife).
Little Women was an instant success when it was originally penned in two parts and was later adapted for screen and stage several times, including for the BBC.
It is an autobiographical account of life with three sisters in Concord, Massachusetts during the 1860s. With their father fighting in the American Civil War, sisters Jo, Meg, Amy and Beth are at home with their mother, a very outspoken women for her time.
