Weather: Biggest rainfall in Kildare in years, experts say

After torrential downpours for most of today in Co Kildare, experts claim almost two inches of rain has fallen. Co Kildare seems to be one of the worst counties lashed by heavy thundery rainfall. Many areas are hit by flash flooding and driving visibility is very poor on the M7 and M4. Reader Monica Wilson said flooding at Hawkfield outside Newbridge is very dangerous. And according to Kildare Weather, as much as 42mm of water has fallen up to 9pm today. It's the wettest day in Co Kildare since the experts began recording rainfall in 2009.
