PHOTOS: Snow drifts above waist level on road near Naas

Dramatic photos have been sent to KildareNow of snow drifts making a road impassable in Rathmore, Co Kildare, just a five minute drive from the N81 close to Blessington. Strong overnight winds blew the powdery snow into mounds - reaching up to above waist level in places.   The affected area is a few miles from Naas and is located in the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains. A snow drift is a deposit of snow that is blown into a mound by strong winds during a snowstorm.   Snow drifts are formed in a similar way to sand dunes on beaches.
