Warning after shower fire - turn off wall switch when finished!

Dublin Fire Brigade have warned householders to ensure they turn off the isolation switch when finished showering.
An electric shower sparked a fire in north Dublin which completely destroyed the shower box and smoke damage was caused to the wall tiles.
Luckily, the householder involved had closed the doors on the fire which helped to suffocate the flames.
This fire could have been caused by a simple loose connection.
Ensure that electric shower units are always installed properly by a qualified electrician.

A Dublin Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "Electric shower at home? Always turn off power to the shower at the isolation switch when finished.

"We had fire engines from Kilbarrack and North Strand at this shower fire earlier.

"The owners closed the doors on the fire which limited damage to the bathroom."
