Mick Foster of Foster & Allen fame marries: "We were too busy to get married!" says bride Moyra

All smiles for Moyra and Mick Foster on their wedding day recently at the Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone. Formerly of Dowdenstown, Mick is of course, one half of the legendary duo, Foster & Allen. Mick can’t be accused of rushing into anything too quickly as he and Moyra have been together for 27 years. “I met him when I played music myself” said Moyra (Fraser). “And I used to run The Accordion Shop in Aberdeen.” In fact, Moyra is both Musical Director for Foster & Allen and she plays keyboards with the band. “We’ve been thinking about getting married for years but to be honest, we were always too busy. Foster & Allen are constantly touring the UK but also alternate annually between tours of New Zealand, Australia and Canada”. This year it was Australia and Moyra stated they finally got round to getting married on September 5 at the Hodson Bay Hotel. “We kept it quiet and simple, made our vows in the Balcony Suite at the Hodson Bay; it was so beautiful standing on the balcony overlooking the Shannon. It was just Mick and I, along with our two best friends Teresa and Tommy Kilmurry. No fuss, no drama – but finally, we got round to it!” The couple are based in Mullingar. After 27 years together, it’s safe to say “Old flames don’t hold a candle to you, Dear” – with the exception of Tony Allen, Foster & Allen being close to 44 years together now! Best wishes to Mr and Mrs Foster! Long may the music continue….. Photographer Liam Kidney, www.liamkidney.com
