“Ring of Choir’ set to rock Tougher’s on Friday, 12 October. Kilcullen Gospel Choir and Joey Lee Lawlor unite for energetic musical presentation!

Kilcullen Gospel Choir along with Joey Lee Lawlor and his 'Johnny Cash Tribute Show' unite on Friday, 12 October for what promises to be one hell of a good night of music! Toughers is the venue, show starts at 8pm – and all for only €10. Raffle on the night in aid of Maintain Hope.If you haven’t seen Joey Lee (below) in action, trust me, he gives a hell of a show! A big fan of Johnny Cash's music since childhood. Joey lives in Kilcullen with his wife Suzanne, (a member of Kilcullen Gospel Choir and family and he really does ‘Walk the Line’ with a superb band and tribute act to the Man in Black. He is also a country musician in his own right, having secured an IMRO Award for Best Alternative Country Song for his original composition 'Son of Lucifer', while his track 'Dublin to Memphis' secured the top spot on the Irish country music iTunes chart. As for Kilcullen Gospel Choir, their performances are always uplifting and energetic. Formed in April 2014, the choir now has 50 members with a waiting list – albeit male singers are a bit scarce so a few more would be very welcome! Members hail from Kilcullen, Crookstown, Blessington, Ballymore, Newbridge and Milltown. Over the last 4 years KGC have performed with Rob Strong, Niamh Kavanagh, Newbridge Sopranos, Liam O'Maonlaí, Brendan Keeley and Mundy. Weekly practice takes place every Tuesday night in the lovely Artaban Hall, Camphill Community, Kilcullen under the directorship of Soprano Lorraine Nolan from Newbridge. Check out their FB page or contact Frances on 087 974 6000 for more info. But don’t forget Ring of Choir at Tougher’s on Friday, October 12.
