Major Garda checkpoint leads to Revenue inspectors quizzing 60 people and follow-up investigations

A Multi-Agency Checkpoint led by Gardai has seized 8 cars, a Van and a Truck - and issued 30 Fixed Charge Penalty Notices. Revenue officials carried out over 60 checks resulting in 31 follow up investigations.     The operation involved Roads Policing Unit Naas, Leixlip Gardai, Customs and Excise, Revenue and Road Safety Authority officials in Celbridge, Maynooth and Kilcock. A total of 8 Cars, a Van and a Truck were taken off the road for no Insurance and/or no Tax. Two motorists were arrested for Drunk Driving and Drug Driving. A total of 30 Fixed Charge Penalty Notices were issued for various Road Traffic offences. Road Safety Authority officials detected 10 defects on HGV’s they examined. Customs officials dipped over 100 vehicles and detected one vehicle using Green Diesel. In addition, 5 Vehicle Registration Tax investigations were processed. Kildare Gardai said all cases will result in court appearances for all offenders.
