The Athy Retail Skills training programme held a Plant Sale this week for the local people in Athy. The learners wanted to sell the plants that they had grown from plugs in their Horticultural module which is currently been delivered by Colm O’ Callaghan in the centre.     Customers were warmly welcomed by the learners as they displayed the plants on offer and put to use their retail skills which they have acquired on the course.     The Athy Retail Learners also made a donation of plants on the day to Patricia Berry for Tidy Towns, Alanna Murray for Athy Boat Tours and Ger O’Neill Womens Activity Group for St. Marys Cemetery.     The Athy training centre has been running Local Training Initiatives since 2002. Over 390 trainees have passed through its doors since the centre opened.   It provides training and work experience and help people from the local area prepare for employment. The Programme is operated by County Kildare LEADER Partnership (CKLP) under the sponsorship of Kildare Wicklow Education Training Board (KWETB).   The facility is provided by Kildare County Council through the Athy Community Enterprise Company.   ABOVE: left to Right: Shauna Byrne, Courtney Cummins Doyle, Courtney Corr, Sophie Raymond, Nikita Potts, Calum O’Rourke, Sinead Brennan, Lauren Byrne, Adrian Murray, Ger O’ Neill, Womens Activity Group, Colm O’Callaghan, Horticultural Tutor, Patricia Berry, Tidy Towns and Alanna Murray, Athy Boat Tours.
