Fine Gael Area Representative Peggy O'Dwyer said: "This is totally unacceptable due to the health and safety risk to the general public and the natural environment. “As a local resident and Fine Gael Area Representative, I accept that this behaviour is very difficult to combat. "In this regard a number of solutions should be considered. "This could include significant increase in fines for people found to be guilty of this practice, surveillance, signage, and an awareness campaign on the disposal of waste”. "Our environment is our future." Peggy said fly tipping of illegal waste has been a problem in the Barrettstown area especially in and near the protected area of Mouds Bog. The residents in the area are very aware and vigilant to this problem which occurs mainly during the hours of darkness. Subscribe or register today to discover more from DonegalLive.ie
