3 Kildare restaurants feature in 100 Best Restaurants in Ireland guide

ABOVE: A main course at The Ballymore Inn The Sunday Times 100 Best Restaurants list for 2019, which claims it's  the definitive guide to eating out in Ireland, has been published.         And just three restaurants in Co Kildare have been included in the latest edition - The Ballymore Inn in Ballymore Eustace, Canteen in Celbridge and Two Cooks in Sallins. Speaking about Georgina and Barry O'Sullivan at The Ballymore Inn, the guide says: "Georgina's cooking is so modern and up-to-the-minute that it puts many more youthful pretenders to shame." Most counties have three or less restaurants featured on the list while some have only one. Understandably, Dublin has the most restaurants featured with 32 while Cork has 16 and Galway has 10. Sally and John McKenna said: "Each year it gets more difficult to compile the list, such are the standards being achieved in kitchens and dining rooms the length and breadth of the country." These restaurants can now place a coveted McKennas’ Guide Plaque on their exterior wall. The first John and Sally McKenna’s 100 Best Restaurants in Ireland guide appeared in 1992. The latest Guide was published in a 32-page supplement in yesterday's Sunday Times newspaper.
