There are over 2,000 people without power in the Kildare area following violent winds overnight.

The 125kmh gusts hit Ireland from yesterday evening as part of a weatherfront called Storm Hector, and it has resulted in power supply to around 35,000 being lost.

In Naas, a total of 1,110 people have been without power since shortly after 6am due to a fault in the line. The power cut is affecting residents in the Esmondale area. The ESB are currently trying to restore electricity to the area, and they estimate that power should be back at 9.45am.

In Blessington, there are 836 homes and businesses that have been without supply since around 5.20am this morning. Power is expected to be restored there at around 9am.

A further 52 homes in the Mullacash area near Two Mile House are without power too, with the estimated restore there being 9am.
