Temperatures reached 25 degrees Celsius in parts of Co Kildare - making it one of the warmest places in the country.
Most of the rest of Ireland registered between 17 and 24 degrees.
And the sweltering heat will continue in the East tomorrow with maximum afternoon temperatures of 21 to 27 degrees expected.
Unfortunately the best of the week will be before Thursday as the weather becomes less settled.
Wednesday will be slighter cooler but still very pleasant with highs of 22 degrees.
However temperatures will drop further back on Thursday and Friday as showers are likely.
The weekend will see the mercury reach the high teens only.
