Three tourists have been left shaken after they were attacked in a quiet area of south Dublin in the early hours of this morning.
The three American women were on their way to the airport and were walking towards a bus stop when they were set upon by two men wearing white hoodies in Killiney.
A 22-year-old woman was physically assaulted by the men and was taken to St Vincent's Hospital for treatment. The other two women are believed to be of a similar age, and all three women had cash, travel documents and their passports stolen during the attack.
The attack occurred at around 5.40am this morning and the three women reportedly noticed the two men following them, but seeing as the bus stop was only a 10 minute walk away they felt they would be safe.
“They noticed the men following them but it was only a ten minute walk to the bus," an eye witness described to independent.ie
“One of the girls was physically assaulted and she had a bust lip, broken teeth and a bloody mouth. She was in shock and her friends were frantically trying to calm her down.”
Gardaí have appealed for anyone with information on the assault to get in contact.
