The appearance of brothers Jordan and Cian Adams on the latest episode of the Tommy Tiernan Show on RTÉ has been hailed as 'extraordinary' and must-see television.
Known as the FTD brothers, the pair discussed their experiences with Frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a rare, early-onset form of dementia.
During the interview, which was broadcast on Saturday night, the brothers explained to the host that their mother was diagnosed with the disease at 47 and died when she was 52.

The brothers subsequently underwent genetic testing which revealed that they are both carriers of the genetic fault that causes FTD.
"I'm 29, Cian is 24 - so we know that we can start to expect symptoms in the next 10-to-15 years. There is no cure, there is no treatment, so ultimately we have been given a terminal prognosis," explained Jordan.
The brothers told Tommy that they have dedicated their lives to raising awareness and funds for dementia charities, having already raised significant amounts.
Despite their terminal prognosis, they say they are striving to live meaningful lives and advocate for research to find a cure but said they are realistic and know that a cure is most likely not going to be in place before they begin to experience symptoms of the disease.
"We're realistic. We're hopeful that there will be change. Maybe there'll be disease-modifying treatment, but it might not come on time for us," Jordan said.
Emphasising the importance of their efforts to generate awareness of FTD and to raise funds to help prevent others from suffering the same fate, they discussed the challenges involved in balancing their personal lives and their commitment to the cause.
"We are all dealt certain cards in life. And you have a choice, like we did, to walk through one or two doors, and I think we want to be living proof to anybody who is going through anything difficult that there is life to be lived," Jordan said.
Reacting to the brothers appearance, one person on X, formerly Twitter said the interview was 'Extraordinary' while another said: "Cian and Jordan. I didn’t want to watch that interview after I heard their first line. Now I’m glad I did. I wish those two wonderful young men all the very very best."
