Motorists travelling the Athy to Monasterevin Road will be met by delays due to closures for almost a week.
The R417 from Athy to Monasterevin at The Old Cush Inn Site will be closed from 8am on Wednesday, November 21, until Tuesday, November 27, at 6pm.
The closure is required to facilitate works being carried out by Gas Networks Ireland.
A diversionary route from Athy to Monasterevin will take traffic east out of Athy along N78 turning left onto the R418 and travelling to Fontstown where traffic will turn left onto the R415 routing to Kildare town via Nurney. Traffic will travel onto the R415 and R445 junction in Kildare Town and take a left onto the R445 routing to Monasterevin.
The diversion route from Monasterevin to Athy will take traffic east out of Monasterevin along the R445 to Kildare Town. Traffic will turn right onto the R415 out of Kildare Town routing to Nurney and onto Fontstown where it will turn right onto R418 routing towards Athy. Traffic will then turn right onto the N78 into Athy
