Traffic came to a standstill in Athy yesterday while the town gathered to pay tribute to renowned musician, Jack L, born and bred in the town.
As part of the Made in Athy project, Athy, home to the famous Dreamland Ballroom, has been celebrating its links to a wide range of musicians.
A plaque was unveiled at Garter Lane in Athy to mark his contribution to music and his Athy connections.
Jack L said yesterday: "I was born in the hospital up the road. Athy has always been special to me."
Yesterday, it celebrated Jack L, who has had several platinum selling albums and has won many awards from The Edinburgh Fringe Spotlight “Best Music Award” to the Hollywood Fringe “Judges choice” In the USA.
Jack L said: "Thanks to everyone who came out for the unveiling of the plaque in my old hometown Athy today.A great honour.Blown away."
He paid tributes to the Made in Athy Project and Kildare Arts Service.
