A GoFundMe for a “beautiful, bright” two-year-old girl from Kildare who has been diagnosed with a rare and “aggressive” childhood cancer has been set up.

Darcy O’Donnell was diagnosed with a high-risk Stage 4 Metastatic Neuroblastoma in April.

She is currently undergoing intensive treatment, including chemotherapy, surgeries, stem cell transplantation, radiation, and immunotherapy.

Her journey with treatment is expected to last around a year and a half, with it happening at Children’s Health Ireland in Crumlin.

Those 18 months will be filled with long hospital stays and immense “emotional and financial strain” on her family.

Darcy’s sparkle has not been dulled by the diseases, with her described as lighting up every room with her “courage, humour, and infectious personality.”

“She loves singing, dancing, arts and crafts, painting, flowers, and searching for fairies, and she continues to smile through even the toughest days,” the GoFundMe page reads.

Her parents, Megan and Keiron, have friends who set up the fundraiser as a way to support the family during this time.

It has a goal of €18,000, with over €17,400 raised so far.

They are originally from South Africa and therefore have very little local support around them.

“We are asking anyone who feels moved by Darcy’s story, whether you know the family personally or not, to please consider supporting them,” the friends wrote.

To help support the family, you can donate to the GoFundMe here.
