A black leather bag containing cash and drugs found at the Oxegen music festival at Punchestown has never been claimed by its owner.

Naas District Court heard that gardai have been trying to locate the owner for the past two years.

Garda Superintendent Martin Walker said the bag had €484.77 in cash and a small quantity of drugs.

Under the 1897 Police Property Act, gardai have the power to hand over seized money or valuables to the state if the rightful owner cannot be located.

In this case, Supt Walker applied for the money to be given to a charity, namely Blessington Boxing Club.

The application was granted by Judge Desmond Zaidan.
