A BMW X5 jeep was stolen from a housing estate in Celbridge this morning as the owner was defrosting their car with the engine running.

A KildareNow reader contacted us this morning to say that their BMW jeep was stolen at around 7.20am from outside their home this morning. They said: "Turned our back for less than 60 seconds. Saw a black Sangyong mini van turning - they’d dropped the person off who took our car. Engine running - stupid we know but we were looking at it and it was taken within the time it took to walk through the kitchen."

The BMW is described as having a 10KK2391 registration, navy in colour with tinted back windows and it was stolen from Oldtown Mill in Celbridge.

Gardaí are investigating the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact Celbridge garda station on 01 6288222.
