The planners who submitted documents to Kildare County Council in a bid to build a new sports campus in Monasterevin, and saw their plans turned down, have brought the matter to An Bord Pleanála as they look to overturn the decision.

The council turned down the original application at the beginning of July, but the planners have brought the matter to An Bord Pleanála, who they are hoping will give them permission.

St Eimhín's Lawn Tennis Club in conjunction with Monasterevin AFC applied for permission to build four International Tennis Federation all weather courts and a seasonal air-dome on the site at Togher Road in May. The club would have provided members with two mini practice courts and practice walls along with professional lighting that would have included 10 metre high masts and associated fencing.

There were also plans to build a new high grade soccer pitch and an athletics track. along with a children's outdoor play area for the community.

The large development would have seen further buildings constructed, such as an indoor multi-purpose sports hall, two all-weather 5-a-side soccer pitches and the refurbishment of the existing pitch.
