A fantastically talented young pianist from Newbridge has claimed the top prize in the u16 Piano Competition at the Navan Choral and Instrumental Music Festival which took place over the weekend.
Robyn Maher, 14, from The Priory Newbridge is a 3rd year student at a local secondary school and at the weekend she won 1st place for her piano playing skills in the U16 category of the prestigious musical festival.
Robyn has been playing the piano from the age of 5 and this Wednesday 23 May she is due to sit her grade eight piano exam with the RIAM.
Meanwhile, music seems to run deep in the Maher family with Robyn's father Dave having won Opportunity Knocks with his family The Maher Family in the late 70s.
Robyn is said to be "delighted" with her recent achievement and she studies piano with Linda Collins and it is also her dream to study music in college in the future. It look's like this talented young pianist will take the music world by storm!
