Call for action on dangerous cross roads across Co Kildare
19:35 Sunday 18th of February 2018
Kildare Co Council has been called to use low-cost measures to make dangerous crossroads safer if alternative measures are not feasible.
Cllr Mark Lynch referred to three junctions which are criticised as unsafe by road users - Dagweld's Cross (above) between Prosperous and Allenwood, Kinneagh Cross between the Curragh and Kilcullen and Coill Dubh Cross.
The politician said that there was often a high cost as well as technical difficulties in improving road safety at junctions.
He called on the Council to 'seek a policy change whereby low-cost immediate remedial measures, such as chicanes are used on primary or secondary roads in critical locations where appropriate, at the request of the public and councillors.'
Cllr Lynch will raise the issue at the monthly meeting of Kildare Co Council in Naas on Monday, February 26.
