Councillor Sorcha O’Neill has called for Kildare Fire Service fire-fighters to 'pre-soak' bonfire sites in the Naas municipal to prevent them being lit at Halloween.
The politician said she is proposing the measure to combat illegal bonfires.
Cllr O'Neill will seek a response on the issue at the next Naas Municipal District meeting taking place tomorrow week.

At the same meeting, Cllr O’Neill will ask the Council to write to the Department of Education requesting that the service provider of the school buses collecting and dropping off children in Sallins, "are no longer permitted to stop for collections and drop-offs on the main road but instead, that they pull into estates to ensure safer access for children to alight and disembark.
