16:00 Saturday 18th of November 2017

Kildare Co Council has been requested to allocate funding to Halloween events to discourage illegal fireworks and bonfires.

Councillor Mark Stafford is due to make the proposal to local authority officials at the next Co Council meeting.

Cllr Stafford called on the Council to "devise and implement a grant scheme to assist with organised community Halloween activities and festivals in order to encourage people away from stock piling of materials for backyard burning and use of illegal fireworks."

The monthly meeting is due to be held at 2p.m. on Monday, 27 November in Aras Chill Dara, Naas.
