Kildare County Council have been asked to get in contact with a department from the South Dublin County Council to discuss the ongoing traffic congestion issues in Celbridge.
Cllr Michael Coleman raised the issue at a meeting of the Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District on Friday morning, highlighting the problems currently being faced at the Hazelhatch Canal Bridge. Cllr Coleman stated that there are major delays at peak traffic times in the morning leaving Celbridge, and that the sequencing of traffic lights should be looked at.
"Can the council write to the Transport and Planning Department of South Dublin County Council and ask them to carry out a review of their current traffic management which they installed at Hazelhatch Canal Bridge, and in particular to look at the traffic lights sequencing? There are major delays at peak times in the morning for traffic leaving Celbridge trying to access work, trains etc," stated Cllr Coleman.
The council responded by stating; "While the Roads department engages and liaises with South Dublin County Council on an ongoing basis, the timing and sequencing of traffic signals across South Dublin’s traffic management network are a matter for that local authority."
