Appeals are now being made for additional rail seats from Kilcock to Connolly in both morning and evenings.
Local Fianna Fáil TD, Frank O’Rourke, has received confirmation from Iarnrod Eireann that the capacity of the 8.01 morning service has increased to its pre summer level, but more capacity is required and Iarnrod Eireann has given a commitment to review the level of service on the line.
Deputy O'Rourke said: “I can confirm that as of Monday 4th of September last, the capacity on the 08:01 service from Kilcock to Connolly has been increased to the pre summer level capacity. Irish Rail has now agreed to review the options available to increase fleet and improve the service on the line.”
He said: “Irish Rail has confirmed that they seeing some growth on this route. This will eventually put pressure on seat availability as the service gets closer to its destination and we must press for increased capacity on this route.”
Meanwhile, a Park and Ride location for Bus and Rail Commuters, has now been agreed for Kilcock. The town is now included in the Shop Hop Zone for Rail commuters which had the effect of reducing the fares for commuters. The Leap reader is now installed at the Kilcock Rail Station.
