Age Action is looking for volunteers in Kildare to help with the charity’s National Collection outside the Monread Shopping Centre, Naas, on Friday, September 30.

Justin Moran of Age Action said: “The National Collection is one of our biggest fundraisers this year and could raise tens of thousands of euro to fund the services we provide for older people.

“To make it a success, we need volunteers across Ireland to help with the collection and I’m making a special appeal to people in Kildare to help our senior citizens by taking part in our National Collection.”

“We’ll be at the Monread Shopping Centre in Naas from 10am to 6pm and we’re asking volunteers to please give two hours of their time to help raise funds for our work with older people in Kildare.”

Last year, Age Action carried out more than 28,000 DIY jobs and befriending visits to older people across the country.

The charity also provided one-to-one computer training to more than 3,300 older people as part of its award-winning Getting Started Programme and maintains a helpline providing information on services and entitlements.

Justin continued: “We can only provide our services for older people because of the generosity of the general public and the support of volunteers willing to give up their time to help out.

“Please get in touch if you can spare a couple of hours to help our senior citizens at the end of the month.”

Volunteers can sign up online at www.ageaction.ie or by phoning Michelle at 01 475-6989.
