Replying to Cllr O’Loughlin’s motion, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting: “The Town Regeneration Team has opened a Derelict Sites file in respect of this property.”

“Initial investigations into the ownership of the property are currently underway, and statutory Derelict Sites procedures will be initiated,” KCC added.

Speaking further on the site, Cllr O’Loughlin noted that was constructed back in 1829.

He also said the owner has not interacted with the site for the last number of years, and as a result, the church has fallen into a poor state.

According to Cllr O’Loughlin, a number of windows have been broken and there are holes in the roof.

He concluded: “I welcome KCC’s decision to consider the placement of this site on the Derelict Sites Register.”
