Clane St Patrick’s Day Parade 2019 will have 40 floats this year say organisers

 Organisers for this year’s Clane St Patrick’s Day Parade 2019 have announced the grand marshal and that this year’s theme will be ‘Bringing Community Together.’

The Clane St Patrick’s Day Parade which is now in its 15th year will commence at 3pm this Sunday March 17 with pre-parade entertainment provided by street performers from 2pm.

“At the moment we have almost 40 Floats with huge numbers of children and adults taking part. Our theme for this year is Bringing Community Together and we feel we really are doing that. There will be big numbers of people on the street again,” said Mary Dunne, Chairperson for the Clane St Patrick’s Day Parade 2019.

Additionally, the Grand Marshal for this year’s parade is Rosemarie Hayden of the Clane branch of the Irish Red Cross and Rosemarie and her team have played a huge part in the parade since its beginning. The organisers of this year’s parade said: “Rosemarie is very involved in her local community and we are honoured to have her as our Grand Marshal for 2019.”

This year the parade will start at the Business Park on the Kilcock Road for vehicles and for all walking groups, Dental Options Car Park behind Centra Clane. It is understood that Main Street will close at 2pm and roads leading onto Main Street will close at 2.30pm and will remain closed until Gardai advise that they can be reopened after the parade.

Meanwhile on Saturday, March 16, acclaimed children’s author Emma-Jane Leeson who wrote the fantastically popular Johnny Magory series will be in attendance for story time from 11am-12 noon at Supervalu, while afterwards Definition Dance Studios will perform at Supervalu from 12 noon.
