Co Kildare Gardaí warn car robberies this morning could be start of more as frost descends
10:19 Friday 17th of November 2017

Gardaí in Co Kildare fear that this morning's car robberies may be the start of many more.

This morning heavy frost descended on Co Kildare and nationally.

Two cars have been stolen in the county while owners had been going about defrosting the windscreens.

Inspector Oliver Henry said: "With the first heavy frost in the morning, we have had a number of cars stolen in Co Kildare. This happens every year.We suspect that people wait around housing estates for people to leave their cars. It has happened in all parts of Co Kildare in previous years. Please remain with your vehicle while defrosting on the cold mornings or keep an ice scraper tool in your car. Please also reduce your speed to arrive alive on the icy roads."
