Co Kildare man facing charges of 'serious' assault at Monasterevin pub

A Co Kildare man is facing allegations of 'punching' another man while out 'socialising.'

The 25-year-old is charged with assault at The Venice of Ireland, Main St, Monasterevin, on September 18, 2016.

Inspector Mel Smyth outlined how the accused was 'out socialising'.

It is understood that no weapon was used.

Inspector Smyth said that the accused allegedly 'punched' the injured party in the face, causing injuries to the jaw.

Judge Desmond Zaidan said: "These allegations are very serious."

There were no objections to bail.

One month has been allowed for DPP directions.

Legal aid was assigned.
