A young Co Kildare woman is traumatised after being dragged across the road by a man, just minutes from her home.

The woman, in her early twenties, was walking along Station Road, Kildare town,  just outside Drea's Garage, about 2.30am, on Sunday morning after socialising, when a man grabbed her from behind.

It is understood that the man in his early twenties grabbed her and dragged her across the road, knocking her to the ground, before fleeing with her handbag. The handbag contained a debit card and a small amount of cash.  The woman, who reported the crime yesterday afternoon, is understood to be in a state of shock, but has no physical injuries.

The man, described as being tall and thin, fled and ran towards the Lourdesville housing estate. CCTV footage from the immediate area of the attack is being examined.
