Co Kildare woman says it is 'sad in this day and age that there are soup kitchens in Newbridge'

A Co Kildare campaigner for those in need says that it is 'sad' to see soup kitchens in Newbridge.
Every Wednesday and Friday evening, a voluntary group, The Dining Room, provides hot meals to the needy in Newbridge.
Volunteer at The Dining Room, Catherine O'Donoghue, reports that every week there are up to 50 people seeking food.
She said: "It is sad in this day and age that there are soup kitchens in Newbridge."
According to Ms O'Donoghue, people are being forced to decide on whether to pay bills or eat.
She said: "When the bills come in, people may think they will pay the bill, and come to us for food. There are very sad stories, we are there to help. There is not a lot we can do other than give people food and point them in the right direction. "
Ms O'Donoghue said: "There are people with children, single people, couples, all looking for food."
Approximately 50 volunteers are running The Dining Room in Newbridge, serving hot meals from 7.45pm to 10pm, each Wednesday and Friday.
Donations to The Dining Room in Newbridge can be made to Newbridge Credit Union on 44404.
